June Heat
Heat has made me dry
and creaky like a door
in need of oil that groans
as it moves. Even my bones
grow weary and heavy.
The air stagnates
and collects irritants
like mosquitoes who itch
to taste human blood.
I scratch at nothing.
I am brittle and broken--
in need of moisture.
I wilt, stooped slightly,
as the heat gains strength.
There is no bloom in me today.
and creaky like a door
in need of oil that groans
as it moves. Even my bones
grow weary and heavy.
The air stagnates
and collects irritants
like mosquitoes who itch
to taste human blood.
I scratch at nothing.
I am brittle and broken--
in need of moisture.
I wilt, stooped slightly,
as the heat gains strength.
There is no bloom in me today.

I like this, Vickie, and boy do I know how it feels! One thing - should be groanS I think. :o)
Testing to see if my blogger profile pic is working. Sorry to use you like this!
I fixed the error. Thanks for adding the picture, I had the wrong Erin there for a minute. I'm so glad you finally made a comment!
Y'know, I didn't think I could, because your blog doesn't allow anonymous comments and I thought if I linked my blog via my profile, it would just bring up my blog page, which loads into my layout in an inline frame and is very boring on its own. Lol. Like you needed to know all that! Anyway, I figured it all out. :o) Oh, if it's OK with you, I am going to link you on my "other" page. Already made the buttons. Let me know if you'd rather not. I don't get a ton of traffic, but I figured it couldn't hurt, right?
your profile has "no reply" on comments, so, since I couldn't email the response, I posted another comment. That's fine with me. I'm going to add more links to my pages eventually, too. May I add yours?
I don't know why my profile says "no reply." I don't recall checking a box to that effect. I don't use Blogger comments, so maybe that's it. *shrugs* Oh, and yes, you may add my link if you like. Lo)
I updated this page, anonymous comments are now possible.
I think I finished this poem as well...
Good sense of finality and resignation in the final line.
Like the way you enjambed S2.
Can I play? I'm gonna play :) Feel free to delete this reply if you don't want me to play lol.
Heat has dried me -
creaky like a door in need
that groans as it moves.
Even my bones
grow weary and heavy.
The air stagnates,
collects irritants
like mosquitoes who itch
to taste blood.
I scratch at nothing.
I am brittle and broken-
Stooped lightly, I wilt
as heat saps my strength.
There is no bloom in me today.
you may always play, anyone else? once I catch up in email, I'll come back to this.
I like it! You simply rearranged my lines, but it worked. One thing, though, I changed lightly to slightly. BTW, I also decided to use this for the fourth round of the round robin. I was first up...
