Round Robin 9
It was so terribly long ago,
and yet it was only yesterday,
when we were young and reckless.
Love was so much simpler then.
It was easier to believe
that Alice could find her way
through the rabbit hole
and that pills could shrink and grow
a person to fit the circumstance.
Mary Poppins always came to the rescue
with her trusty umbrella and a spoon
that made medicine taste like sugar
and the longest word in the world, almost.
And, there we were, right smack in the middle
of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny,
and the kids who still believed in magic.
It was contagious to witness the fun
and get into the spirit of the times.
It was only yesterday that the big, bad wolf
chased little red riding hood through the wood.
And, today, we know that nothing is as innocent
as it looks; the big, bad wolf is really a predator
who preys on the innocence of our young.
Then, Santa's list of who was naughty and nice
was a form of discipline to keep the holiday cheer.
We all know that the naughty girl has the nicest time
in the world we live in today, don't we?
And the pills of the day don't affect the whole person
but allow us to grow in specific areas of our anatomy
where the term "eat me" takes on a whole new meaning.
At least now, we don't have to sneak off to some remote
location for that quick roll in the hay, but somehow
the sensations are different today; just because folks
won't catch us in the act shouldn't diminish pleasure,
make it better or worse, just different. The forbidden
is just so much more tempting; eat the apple and sin.
It was so terribly long ago, and yet it was only yesterday,

Simpler...indeed; But I think it just seems that way. I'm sure each generation has these same types of thoughts when in retrospect.
Hello, my friend. How are you?
