Getting Older

Aches and pains remind me
that my body is alive.
I'd rather acknowledge it
without the sensations.

Since this traitor
belongs to me, shouldn't
I, in particular, know
how old it is?

Pain does serve
to notify our brains
that bodies are slower
than our minds

and often braver.

Good Morning, V. I like the last stanza and line especially. How true that the body will often try to push on long after the mind has had enough. Interestingly, the opposite is often true too! I like this. :o)

Thank you, ma'am. I wrote this and pretty much went to bed. I kind of left out the stomach from this. Please don't eat something that you know you've had trouble with in the past...lol

Lol, I've learned that lesson more than once. Well, if it took more than once, I really didn't learn it at all, did I? Anyway, you know what I mean! :-P
